About Japanese cuisine
Our business was inspired by a call from a group of people with disabilities.
"I'd like to can local Kyoto ingredients as souvenirs."
However, up until now, canned food has been nothing more than mass-produced "canned ingredients" packed with ingredients and seasonings. Therefore, we have developed machines and systems that allow for small-scale production. Instead of mass-producing by machine as in the past, we have made it possible to arrange food that has been carefully cooked by hand into cans by hand.
Our canned foods, created in this way, are not traditional "canned ingredients" but true "canned food."
Japan is home to an abundance of rare and delicious ingredients. There are mountains, oceans, and four seasons. These delicious Japanese ingredients are carefully prepared using traditional Japanese cooking techniques.
Furthermore, these canned supreme dishes are made with a focus on safety to protect your health.
That is canned Japanese food.
— The world-renowned "umami" culture —
At the core of Japanese cuisine is the world-renowned fifth taste, umami.
The delicate harmony of flavors created by kelp, bonito flakes, fermented seasonings, etc. brings out the natural flavors of the ingredients to the fullest, allowing you to feel the beauty of each season.
This "umami" that we Japanese people casually experience in our daily lives has had a major influence on other food cultures such as French and Chinese cuisine, and has now become a globally shared word known as "UMAMI."
Japanese cuisine is an art of taste and an expression of coexistence with nature. Each dish embodies the skill and heart of the artisan, as well as the bounty of the land. It is a culture that can be enjoyed with all five senses: visual beauty, aroma, sound, and texture.
The mission of "Japanese cuisine"
"Wanoshoku" will pass on the wonders of Japanese cuisine to the future in the form of "canned goods."
By capturing the essence of seasonal ingredients, artisanal techniques, and the depth of flavor, we aim to create a world where authentic Japanese flavors can be enjoyed "anytime," "anywhere," and "by anyone."
It is not just a preserved food, but a "food experience" that opens up memories and the climate of Japan the moment you open it.
We have packed "Japanese culture itself" into this small can.
Our Commitment
1. Commitment to Japanese ingredients
We carefully select domestic ingredients and only use safe and reliable ingredients grown here in Japan.
2. Commitment to traditional techniques and Japanese manufacturing
We combine traditional Japanese techniques that have been passed down through the generations with the passion and careful handwork of our artisans. Each piece is made with care and attention, using the skills of our artisans that have been honed over the ages.
3. Commitment to safety and additive-free cooking
We use no unnecessary additives and use additive-free cooking methods that bring out the natural flavor of the ingredients, delivering safe and delicious flavors that you can eat with peace of mind.
Delivering delicious food from all over Japan to everyone
Traveling Japanese flavors that capture the four seasons
"Wanoshoku" seeks out truly delicious foods hidden throughout Japan and condenses the local climate and artisanal skills into the small stage of canned food.
The seas of Hokkaido, the mountains of Kyoto, and the fields of Kyushu - we carefully prepare the seasonal bounty of each region using traditional cooking methods and the latest preservation techniques. We deliver the flavors of Japan in each season straight to your door.
The customers we have in mind are those who value "authentic flavors" even in the midst of busy days, and who love Japanese aesthetics.
For those who want to relive their travel memories.
For those who want to give the spirit of Japan to their loved ones.
And for those who want to enjoy a quality moment as a little reward for themselves.
A taste of Japan the moment you open it - a new way to eat
"Wanoshoku" is made with carefully selected ingredients from all over Japan, cooked in our own factory in Sakai, and carefully handcrafted into each can by our artisans. The flavor is locked in by high-temperature heating, allowing it to be stored at room temperature for a long period of time.
Enjoy the flavors you discover on your travels as souvenirs, gifts for loved ones, or as a little luxury in your everyday life - we propose a new food culture that lets you "taste Japan the moment you open it."
The aroma that rises the moment you open a can brings to mind the four seasons of Japan, the quiet handiwork of artisans, and unforgettable scenery.
This is the continuation of the journey, "Discover Japan Once Again." What you experience at the dining table is not just the flavor, but also the Japanese spirit of "beauty," "tranquility," and "hospitality."
"Authentic Japanese cuisine" made with ingredients delivered directly from the source and preserved in the best possible condition.
A luxurious sense of security that does not require refrigeration or freezing.
Simply open it and you're done - it's both time-saving and high-quality.
And it is a "new Japanese gift" that will be enjoyed by both the giver and the receiver.
"Japanese food" is not just canned food.
We aim to be a bridge that connects Japanese taste and aesthetic sense with the world.
