About Japanese cuisine
Our business began with a heartfelt request from an organization for people with disabilities: "We want to can local ingredients as 'souvenirs' to deliver to loved ones."
However, most conventional canned goods were primarily "ingredient cans" designed for mass production.
Therefore, we built our own system that enables small-batch production. Instead of relying solely on automated machinery, we arrived at a method where skilled artisans carefully cook dishes and meticulously fill each can by hand.
The result is canned goods that transcend mere preserved food, possessing the value of a single plate of "washoku" (Japanese cuisine).
Japan is blessed with an abundance of wonderful ingredients nurtured by its rich mountains, seas, and four seasons. We have highlighted these local ingredients and utilized traditional Japanese culinary techniques to maximize their appeal.
From ingredient selection to the cooking process, we are committed to quality, creating a supreme dish.
You can enjoy it with complete peace of mind.
This is the new form of washoku that "Wa no Shoku" (Japanese Cuisine) wants to deliver to everyone.
— The world-renowned "umami" culture —
At the heart of Japanese cuisine is "Umami," the fifth taste recognized worldwide.
The delicate harmony of flavors created by ingredients like kelp, bonito flakes, and fermented seasonings gently brings out the inherent qualities of the ingredients, allowing us to feel the changing seasons.
This "Umami" that we Japanese have carefully nurtured has now become a universal term, influencing global food culture as "UMAMI."
Japanese cuisine is an art form of taste and an expression of gratitude for nature's bounty. Each dish embodies the skill and spirit of the artisan, and the essence of its origin. We are committed to preserving this rich culture, which allows us to enjoy its visual beauty, aroma, and all five senses.
The mission of "Japanese cuisine"
"Wa no Shoku" preserves the excellence of Japanese cuisine for the future in the form of "Washokucan."
We carefully seal in selected seasonal ingredients, the craftsmanship of artisans, and the depth of umami, aiming for a world where anyone, anytime, anywhere can enjoy authentic Japanese flavors.
It's not just preserved food; it's a "food experience" that, the moment you open it, evokes the climate and memories of Japan. We pack "Japanese culture" and the "passion of artisans" into these small cans.
Our Commitment
1. Our Commitment to Japanese Ingredients
We carefully select domestic ingredients for our main raw materials. We incorporate high-quality ingredients, primarily seasonal delicacies nurtured by Japan's rich climate, which we have confidently chosen.
2. Our Commitment to Traditional Techniques and Domestic Production
We combine time-honored Japanese traditional techniques with the passion and careful craftsmanship of our artisans. Each item is lovingly prepared at our affiliated facilities in Japan, and then hand-packed into cans, ensuring the deliciousness of freshly made products.
3. Our Commitment to Cooking that Maximizes the Ingredients' Flavor
We strive to maximize the natural deliciousness of the ingredients without relying on additives such as preservatives or artificial colors. Through the discerning eye and skill of our artisans, we deliver flavors that everyone, from children to the elderly, can enjoy with peace of mind.
Delivering delicious food from all over Japan to everyone
Enjoy Japanese Flavors, Cherishing the Four Seasons Through Travel
"Wa no Shoku" explores the rich ingredients beloved throughout Japan and condenses the local climate and artisans' skills into the small stage of a can.
From the northern seas, the mountains of Kyoto, and the southern fields, we carefully receive seasonal blessings from various regions and meticulously prepare them using traditional cooking methods and delicate handcraftsmanship. We deliver the profound flavors created by Japan's four seasons to you without compromising quality.
We envision those who, even in their busy daily lives, value a "carefully prepared dish" and love the Japanese aesthetic.
For those who wish to savor travel memories once again.
For those who want to give a heartfelt Japanese gift to a loved one.
And for those who want to enjoy a moment of quality as a small reward for themselves──
The moment you open it, you'll feel a sense of Japanese elegance—a new way of dining.
"Wa-no-Shoku" meticulously prepares carefully selected ingredients sourced from various regions in our own workshop in Sakai, where each can is painstakingly finished by skilled artisans. We have devised a method to seal in the umami of the ingredients through heat cooking, allowing the flavors to be enjoyed for extended periods at room temperature.
We propose a new culinary experience – "savoring Japanese culture the moment you open the can" – whether as a souvenir of flavors encountered during your travels, a gift for a loved one, or a little something to brighten your everyday life.
The aroma that wafts out the moment you open a can. Along with that aroma, you are reminded of Japan's changing seasons, the quiet, living handiwork of artisans, and those unforgettable landscapes.
It is "the Japanese spirit encountered once again" on the continuation of a journey. What you experience at the dining table is not just the taste, but the very aesthetics that Japan has cultivated: "beauty," "tranquility," and "hospitality."
- "Artisan Japanese Cuisine" that brings out the best in ingredients
- "Comfortable Convenience" that allows storage at room temperature anywhere
- "Rich Time" where a refined dish is complete simply by opening the can
- "Modern Japanese Gift" that delights both givers and receivers
"Wa-no-Shoku" is not just a canned food.
We aim to be a bridge connecting Japanese flavors and aesthetics to future generations and the world.
